Garden Route

The Garden Route is one of the most scenic coastal regions worldwide. It stretches from Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth. Knysna lies in the heart of the Garden Route in the middle of the Garden Route National Park. Explore small coves, romantic coastlines, sandy beaches on the Indian Ocean, a seascape, estuaries and large forests at the foot of the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountain-chains.

Wine & Dine

Knysna is a coastal city and in most restaurants fresh fish and seafood is offered. Ask the waiter/waitress of the "Catch of the Day" or "Line Fish". Knysna is also famous for its wild and cultivated oysters.

Here is a selection and restaurants that we recommend to our guests:

We provide an overview of various Garden Route Events, concerts, sporting events and festivals such as the annual Oyster Festival in winter (July), marathons, sailing regattas and sporting water activities, mountain bike events, golf events, concerts, local events and much more.

Even in the Stone Age, the Khoi San lived here in this area, such testimonials show in the sandstone caves along the coast. The recent history of Knysna starts at the beginning of the 19th Century is closely associated with the timber industry. The extensive forests around Knysna were an important source of valuable raw material wood and on a historical walk through Knysna you will find many testimonials from this period.

Knysna is a vibrant town in the heart of the Gardenroute and Gardenroute Nationalpark situated at the banks of the Knysna Lagoon and 18 square kilometer estuary between the Indian Ocean and the Outeniqua Mountains.
Due to this ideal location it ranks within the top 100 holiday destinations and one of the most beautiful coastal towns in the world. It has its own Waterfront with Marina and Yacht Club and many nice restaurants and shops.
The area offers beautiful unspoiled surroundings, wild pristine sand beaches, world class golf courses, hiking trails in the indigenous forest, coastal trails, nature reserves, mountain biking, water sports, boat trips, canoe tours, wildlife parks and much more.
