The Knysna Heads are two steep standstone cliffs guarding the narrow passage between the Indian Ocean and the Knysna Lagoon. The passage is one of the most dangerours harbor entrances in the world.
The Eastern Knysna Heads are freely accessible and there are wonderful viewpoints that offer fantastic views. A small trail runs between the viewpoints along the edge of the sandstone cliff.
The Western Knysna Heads are a private nature reserve, the so called Featherbed Nature Reserve. Access is only via boat or ferry accross the Knysna lagoon with a guided tour through Featherbed Nature Reserve.

Important for photographers: The best pictures you can take in the morning as the sun is behind you.
Tip: Enjoy a sunset from the Eastern Heads viewpoint.
